Liquid Church Cancels All Services And Tells Congregation To Help Neighbors

With thousands of NJ residents impacted by Hurricane Sandy, Liquid Church of NJ has announced all services are cancelled this Sunday (November 4) and tells members to help their neighbors instead.

With thousands of NJ residents impacted by Superstorm Sandy, Liquid Church of New Jersey has announced that all six worship services are cancelled this Sunday (November 4, 2012).

The damage from Sandy was catastrophic and many if not the majority of the church's attendees are still without power.  In efforts to keep traffic clear for emergency responders & repair crews, in addition to the fact that gas rationing has begun in some parts of our state, church officials are encouraging everyone to stay at home.

"We’re canceling services this Sunday to give families a chance to restore normalcy to their homes & communities.  Although we aren’t having formal church services this weekend, this is an opportunity for our people to put their faith into action...we may not go to church this Sunday, but we can 'be' the church in our home towns, with expressions of Christ's love and compassion for our neighbors," said Tim Lucas, Lead Pastor of the New Jersey Christian church with locations in Essex, Middlesex and Morris Counties.

In a video message to the church, Lucas asks members to help with clean up from Sandy devastation, share gas or generators with those who lack power, or food with those who need it.

Since the arrival of Hurricane Sandy, Liquid Church has been in contact with a number of churches located along the Jersey Shore to help facilitate relief efforts to the most devastated communities along the coast.

Church leaders are making plans to invest significant time and money to help with the massive recovery efforts underway across NJ.

On Sunday Nov 11, when Sunday services resume, people are asked to bring non-perishable items (like bottled water, soup, & canned goods) to any of the local campuses where Liquid Church holds services in Morristown, New Brunswick and Nutley.  Teams will be distributing collected supplies to rescue missions & area shelters that are helping local families in need.
