Students from Boonton and Randolph to have original works on MPAC Program Books

Winning works to appear on MPAC program covers in 2014

(Morristown, NJ)  -  Perri Phelps, Sophomore, Boonton High School School and Hannah Frustol, Junior, Randolph High School will have their original works on the program covers of the Mayo Performing Arts Center’s program books in the Spring.

The young women’s works were selected as winners of MPAC’s annual Art Cover Contest. Annie Lin, Grade 6, Mount Olive Middle School, was honored as Best Middle School work.

Artwork from Morris County students who participated in the Mayo Performing Arts Center’s annual student program book cover art contest will be displayed in the Theatre’s Art Upstairs Gallery March 4 – March 18.

This year, the student theme was New Jersey’s 350th Anniversary.  MPAC is participating in the statewide initiative to celebrate New Jersey’s 350th Anniversary by having students create art pieces that embody the following theme:  “New Jersey’s 350th Anniversary – Innovation – Diversity – Liberty.”  Artwork was judged on originality, creativity, and quality, and must also embody the contest theme.

Mayo Performing Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, presents a wide range of programs that entertain, enrich, and educate the diverse population of the region and enhance the economic vitality of Northern New Jersey. The 2013-2014 season is made possible, in part, by a grant the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as support received from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, F.M. Kirby Foundation and numerous corporations, foundations and individuals. The Mayo Performing Arts Center has been designated a Major Presenting Organization by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
