Need Help with Taxes? Check out the Morris County Library

The VITA Program offers free help to people who make $52,000 or less and need help with tax returns.

The Morris County Library is hosting volunteers from the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program this tax season—and that means free tax help for taxpayers who qualify.

The VITA Program generally offers free tax help to people who make $52,000 or less and need help with preparing their own tax returns. The volunteers are trained and tested in current tax law and are IRS-certified. They provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. They can also inform taxpayers about special tax credits for which they may qualify such as Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled.

VITA volunteers will be in the public meeting room of the Morris County Library, 30 East Hanover Ave., in Whippany, from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Saturdays from Feb. 2 until April 12, and again Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, April 15 from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Appointments are required and can be made by calling the local VITA coordinator at 973-538-3451.
