Seeing Eye Instructor, War Vet Dies at 81

Roger Taylor was a former Mt. Tabor fire chief.

Roger Taylor spent a lifetime serving others.

The Mt. Tabor resident passed away at Saint Clare’s Hospital in Dover recently. He was 81 years old.

Taylor is a former fire chief for Mt. Tabor, and an exempt member of the Morris County Chiefs Department, according to his obituary.

He was born in Rochester, New York before moving to New Jersey in 1959. Taylor served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1959 before being honorably discharged.

Following his military service, Taylor spent 43 years serving as a Seeing Eye instructor in Morristown until retiring in 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, a son, two daughters, and seven grandchildren.
