World War II Vet, Morristown Volunteer Dies at 96

Gerry Wilson worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company for 47 years.

Francis “Gerry” Wilson spent his life doing for others.

The World War II veteran and longtime community volunteer died at 96-years-old.

Wilson served in the United States Navy during World War II in Puerto Rico. Post service, he spent 47 years with New Jersey Bell Telephone Company before retiring in 1983.

Wilson coached little league baseball in Morristown for decades, according to his obituary. He volunteered at Morristown’s Neighborhood House and Market Street Mission, and was a lector at Assumption and St. Luke’s Parishes.

Wilson is predeceased by his wife, Joan, of nearly 60 years. She died in 2011.
