What Should Occupy Headquarters Ground Floor Space?

It has foot traffic possibilities, but no tenant.

Business is blossoming on Speedwell Avenue.

In the area of Headquarters Plaza, several new businesses have popped up over the last year or so. Sure, some like have a very specific appeal base, but then places like cater to larger audiences.

A new cafe, . A business called Design with Tile posted a "coming soon" sign nearby. And while and recently closed, the space next to that once held Arabica Cafe has had some activity of late, and the "for lease" signs have come down.

Suffice to say, whatever your opinion, there is no denying things are happening along this part of the road. Meanwhile, adjacent to , Headquarters Plaza remains quiet.

If you walk from the Green, you will find before the hotel a large space seeking a tenant. It's ground floor, which means valuable foot traffic for a prospective business owner. Who knows, this might be the future home for your giant new business venture? Tempting?

So, we want to know this week, what should "Occupy This Space?" Chime in below.

I think a small Kings supermarket (like in Hoboken) or a Whole Foods would work...all the people in Park Place and other residents are not in walking distance to a full service/gourmet supermarket.

Whatever Cavanaugh wants. Dougherty will get him anything he wants no matter how outrageous, and no matter how much the public is against it. They seem like business partners more than friends

Whole foods would be key! But I see a food store/ drug store or furniture store taking the space

I think a store like "Whole Foods" would be great, perhaps a restaurant that is not part of a chain of restaurants.

Ah, unfortunately, there is no easy answer. A Whole Foods sounds nice, but can the area support one? And where will people park (long way off, someone has to pay the parking)? And, will people want to tote groceries down into the parking garage? I fear the empty spaces will mostly remain such. There is such a thing as a white elephant. This could be one. Building/expansion ambition may have gotten too far ahead of reality. Those in this area a long time may remember the early concepts about the "French boutiques" likely to fill that space. Didn't quite work out that way. But, it would be wonderful if this space did not remain a ghost town forever.

The A&P in Morristown is not closing, while several others have closed. The Morristown store is alive and well. As for the space at Headquarters, I would like to see a Trader Joe's there. While Whole Foods and Kings are awesome...their pricing is as well! Traders Joe's has reasonably priced merchandise, outstanding selection and great customer service.
