2 Morris Sheriff's Officers Assaulted at County Courthouse

Delaware man accused of crime was before judge for previous criminal charges, report says.

A Delaware man in Morris County court was arrested again before leaving the building after he allegedly assaulted two officers in a hallway. 

According to nj.com, Marquise Howard, 19, who was in court for a status conference on several charges. He got into an argument with his attorney, and a nearby sheriff’s officer called for backup, the report said.

When two additional officers came to the area and tried to calm Howard down, the report said, he assaulted both of them. Neither of the officers sustained injuries, the report said.

Howard was apprehended by a gaggle of sheriff’s officers and additional cop from Pequannock who was in the area, the report said. Howard was lodged in Morris County Jail on $50,000 bail with no 10-percent option.
