4 Charged in Fight Outside Morristown Bar

A group of Canadian men were upset when they were not allowed into a DeHart Street bar at closing time and then got into an altercation nearby with at least two other men over the weekend, said.

Shawn Nagy, 34, and Brandon Magliclic, 25, both of Ontario, Canada; Christopher Lloyd, 21, of Morristown; and Brendan McCloskey, 22, of Morris Township, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct Sunday at about 1:30 a.m.

Morristown Officers Eric Petr and Brian LaBarre were conducting property checks shortly before bars were to let out for the evening when they observed an altercation in front of the .

The officers were informed that four men, who said they were in town from Canada, had tried to get into the bar but were denied entry as the bar was preparing to close, according to the report.

The officers told the visitors that bars closed at 2 a.m. in New Jersey and that many often denied entry earlier than that as a matter of procedure. The four men calmed down and left the front of the entrance, according to the report.

Soon after, though, the officers saw a fight was taking place at the corner of DeHart and South streets, involving the four Canadian men and others.

Police saw Magliclic actively involved in the fight, along with Lloyd and McCloskey, according to the report. Nagy, while police took Magliclic into custody, began shouting and cursng at the officers in response to his friend being arrested, which resulted in his arrest as well. Police had not seen the other two Canadian men throw any punches and so did not arrest them, according to the report.

Lloyd had a large lump forming on his face as a result of the fight, prompting him to be sent to Morristown Medical Center for evaluation after being served his disorderly conduct summons, according to the report.

Nagy, Magliclic and McCloskey were later released of their own recognizance.
