Morristown Men's Life-Saving Efforts to be Recognized

Annual 200 Club Awards ceremony to recognize 33 Morris County men and women who saved lives and went beyond the call of duty.

Four Morristown emergency responders will be honored, among many other first responders in Morris County, at an awards ceremony in April for their heroic act in saving a man’s life.

The 200 Club of Morris County will hold its annual Awards of Valor and Meritorious Service dinner on April 24, where 33 police officers, firefighters and emergency medical service personnel members will be honored for their heroism.

On Jan. 2 of this year, Morristown firefighter/EMTs Richard Alexander, Gregory Blekicki, Dominic Prizzi, and Joseph SanFelice III were alerted to a person in cardiac arrest at a nearby business. The men ran to the scene to find the man’s heart had stopped beating. Using their training and an automated external defribrillator, they were able to restart the man’s heart.

He is alive and well today.

The four men are receiving Meritorious Awards at the event.

It’s the 42nd Annual dinner by the 200 Club, set for 6 p.m. at the Birchwood Manor in Whippany. Information and tickets can be found here.

“Giving these awards is the high point of the year for us,” said Lou Nisivoccia, president of the 200 Club, in a statement. “These people think nothing of putting their lives on the line every day of the year for us. Most of us never realize these things are happening. The very least we can do is say thank you. These awards allow us to do that and make it special.”
