Car Break-ins on James Street Prompt Police Warning

Valuable items were reported stolen from cars in Morristown, Morris Township.

As police investigate several reported car break-ins in which valuable items were stolen on James Street in Morristown and Morris Township Thursday night, they are also warning residents to lock their car doors.

"The feeling of safety and security is something we strive hard to maintain in Morris Township," the Morris Township Police Department said in a Nixle alert sent to local subscribers. "Unfortunately, in this day and age, there are people who look to take advantage of opportunity."

Police are advising motorists to park their cars in well-lit areas, lock the doors when leaving their vehicle and to remove any valuable items before walking away from the car.
