Cops: Woman Arrested for Arguing Friends' Jaywalking Tickets

A Warren Township woman was arrested after arguing with officers when her friends were accused of jaywalking, Morristown Police said.

Melissa Moy, 23, was charged with obstructing the administration of law at 1:55 a.m. on July 21.

According to Officer Eric Petr's report, he was conducting a property check at 41 Morris St., , when he saw a couple crossing the street without using the crosswalk. Petr told the couple to use the crosswalk, but they crossed the road farther down Morris Street without using the crosswalk anyway, according to his report. 

Petr, along with Officer Robert Iozzia, stopped the couple to issue them a summons for not utilizing the crosswalk, according to the report.

Moy then walked up to the officers and asked what was going on. Petr told her to step back as one of the summonses were issued, according to the report. Moy began to argue again regarding her friends being issued a "jaywalking ticket," according to the report. 

Moy continued to argue with the officers, who warned her she would be arrested for obstruction. Moy then said, "no, arrest me," according to the report.

She was later released on her own recognizance.
