Driver in Fatal Weekend Crash Identified

Silvano Ullinovich, from Neptune, Monmouth County, was killed in Route 287 accident in Morristown.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office has identified the 54-year-old man killed on Saturday when he lost control of his car in Morristown as Silvano Ullinovich, from Neptune, Monmouth County.

The driver had , in Passaic County. That was an earlier address for Ullinovich, the prosecutor's office said.

Overnight Saturday, April 16, police reported a speeding driver had lost control of his car in Morristown, sending the car airborne on the South Street Bridge over Route 287, killing the driver in the ensuing crash, the prosecutor's office said. He was pronounced dead at Morristown Memorial Hospital, the prosecutor's office said.

Ullinovich had been driving a 2007 blue four-door Toyota Camry LE, which had been pursued at about 3:15 a.m. in Somerset County, but authorities there broke off their chase after the driver failed to stop, fleeing at a high rate of speed, the prosecutor's office said.

Shortly after Somerset officers broke off their chase, a Morristown officer observed the vehicle on Mt. Kemble Avenue, still traveling at a high rate of speed, according to the prosecutor's office. The vehicle continued to travel onto South Street, but the driver lost control of the car, and it went over the bridge, according to the prosecutor's office. The vehicle reportedly landed in the northbound lane of Route 287.

The prosecutor's office says the incident remains under investigation.
