Drunken Driver Crashes Stolen Car, Police Say

Hackettstown man jumped curb and struck several parked cars, according to Morristown Police.

A drunken Hackettstown resident struck three cars and tried to flee the scene of an accident on Saturday, according to the Morristown Police.

According to a report filed by Officer Adam Khoudja, Miguel Granados-Umana, 37, causeed of a multi-vehicle accident on Spring Street. The report said that after an Acura driven by Granados-Umana struck three vehicles in the lane of traffic and traveled partially on the curb, Granado-Umana attempted to flee the scene but was caught and restrained by one of the drivers involved in the accident until police arrived.

According to Khoudja, the investigation showed that the vehicle Granados-Umana was driving belonged to a Morristown resident and was stolen out of the Rony's Automotive lot on Spring Street.

The report said Granados-Umana appeared intoxicated during the investigation and blood was drawn at the Morristown Medical Center to confirm.

Granados-Umana was charged with theft of movable property, assault by auto, driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, the report said.

Granados-Umana was held at the Morris Correctional Facility in default of $10,000 bail.
