Drunken Driver Goes Wrong Way Down One-Way, Police Say

Ridgefield Park man pulled over after illegally turning left on Dumont Place, according to Morristown Police.

A 29-year-old Ridgefield Park man was arrested after turning the wrong way down a one-way street, according to a report by Morristown Police.

Officer Joseph Heuneman's report said he saw Victor Perez turn his Toyota on Nov. 17 at the intersection of Morris Street and East Park Place with his left turn signal on.

Perez made the left turn against both the one-way sign and illuminated green traffic signal on Dumont Place and was pulled over, the report said.

According to Heuneman's report, Perez exhibited coordination difficulty, a flushed appearance and slurred speech, prompting a series of field sobriety tests that he subsequently failed.

Perez was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and a breathalyzer test at Morristown Police Headquarters showed a blood alcohol level of .18 percent.
