DWI Arrests in Morristown

The following arrest information was supplied by the Morristown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Morristown police charged the following people with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

  • Police arrested and charged Elizabeth Schwartz, 47, of Montville, with driving under the influence and careless driving at 12:56 a.m. on Oct. 25. Police had observed Schwartz's vehicle cross double-yellow lines on South Street when passing an apparently slow-moving taxi, according to a police incident report. Schwartz's vehicle sped up to 40 m.p.h. in a 25 m.p.h. zone and braked suddenly before speeding back up again, according to the report. Schwartz told police she had drank a glass of wine in Montclair before driving to in Morristown to have another, according to the report. She was later released into the custody of a family member.
  • Police arrested and charged Heather Burdett, 33, of Budd Lake, with driving under the influence, careless driving and failure to observe a traffic signal at 2 a.m. on Oct. 24. Police observed Burdett run a red light around the Green, according to a police incident report. Burdett told police she had been drinking and said, "I am just trying to do the right thing and not drive home. I'm only going to James Street," according to the report. She was later released into the custody of a friend.
  • Police arrested and charged Blair Funk, 22, of Livingston, with driving under the influence, reckless driving, possession of an unsealed container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to observe a traffic signal at 2:08 a.m. on Oct. 23. Police observed Funk turn onto Miller Road from Maple Avenue while the traffic signal was red, according to a police incident report. When stopped, she told police she had not been drinking but that "her friend did," according to the report. Later, she told police she had been coming from and, at one point, said, "I have not had anything since 11 o'clock," according to the report. She was later released into the custody of a friend.
  • Police arrested and charged Michele Juliano-Villani, 58, of Tewksbury, with driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving and improper use of high beam lamps at 12:12 a.m. on Oct. 19. Police first observed the vehicle Juliano-Villani was driving with its high beams on while on South Street, according to police incident report. At the traffic signal at South Park Place, the vehicle sat through a green light and appeared to be sitting through a second green light when another vehicle honked its horn, according to the report. When police eventually pulled Juliano-Villani over on Morris Street, she told police she was lost and that "I was in Peapack and ended up in Sparta somehow," according to the report. She was later released into the custody of a family member.
  • Police arrested and charged Rachel Sholom, 20, of Edison, with driving under the influence and careless driving at 1:52 a.m. on Oct. 19. She was observed by police driving above the speed limit on Morris Street and breaking heavily at a red traffic signal, according to a police incident report. When police pulled her over, she was "actively drinking the contents of a Dunkin Donuts cup while chewing gum," according to the report. Sholom told police she had come from "a Morristown restaurant," according to the report. She was later released into the custody of a family member.
