Flanked By Family, Firefighters Sworn In

A pair of newbies and a passel of promotions for the fire service highlight Morristown Council meeting.

Surrounded by friends and family in a room so packed it drove up the ambient temperature 10 degrees, the Morristown Fire Department named a new chief, fire marshal, captain and swore in a pair of new firefighters during Tuesday night’s Morristown Council meeting.

Before the promotions, the man who would be Chief, Robert Flanagan said that he was "proud and privileged" to work with each every member of the bureau.

"Every single member brings not only the basics in advanced training but their individual talents to the table and that is what makes this department so unbelievably strong," Flanagan said. "I would also like to thank deputy chief Pratchthauser for giving his undivided attention in helping me make this bureaus operate as smoothly as possible."
