Knife-Wielding Robber Assaulted Man on Harrison Street, Cops Say

Teddy Dowe, 39, was charged Thursday with robbery and weapons offenses.

A Morristown man faces robbery and weapons charges stemming from an assault on Harrison Street last week, Lt. Stuart Greer said.

Teddy Dowe, 39, of Early Street, was arrested Thursday on Speedwell Avenue without incident, Greer said.

Dowe, who was accused in September of slapping a 7-Eleven clerk who had caught him allegedly shopliftng batteries, was identified as the thief who robbed a man who was walking on Harrison Street at about 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 7, Greer said.

The victim called 911 and reported being approached by a man who demanded money and began to physically assault him, Greer said.

According to Greer, the victim said his assailant brandished a knife and took his money before running away.

According to Greer, the victim was transported to Morristown Medical Center where he received treatment for minor injuries before being released.

Morristown Police Detective Teddy Jones' investigation led him to Dowe, Greer said.

Dowe was charged with robbery and weapons offenses and was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of $75,000 bail, Greer said.

Police declined to comment on how Dowe was identified.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing and anyone with information is requested to contact Detective Jones at 973-292-6642.
