Man Jailed for Allegedly Hurting Cops Now Accused of Morristown Theft

New York man allegedly attempted to withdraw funds from HSBC bank on April 9 before being jailed by Chatham police.

A New York man accused of seriously injuring two police officers in Chatham was charged by Morristown police for allegedly trying to withdraw nonexistent funds from a bank in April.

According to nj.com, Edward Moran, 22, of the Bronx was charged with criminal attempt, theft by deception, forgery, exhibiting a false document as proof of identification and wrongful impersonating, obtaining and using of another's license. 

Moran allegedly attempted to withdraw funds from an HSBC bank on April 9 in Morristown, and was confronted later that day in a Chatham bank while trying to attempt the same crime.

Officers responded to the Chatham HSBC Bank at about 11 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a man attempting to withdraw money with a forged form and false identification, Chatham Patch originally reported.

Moran assaulted an officer inside the Chatham bank before fleeing, then got into an altercation with two officers before being subdued and arrested, police said. 

In that incident, Moran was charged with robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of resisting arrest, two counts of forgery, obstruction of justice and exhibiting a false document as proof of identification. 

Moran was lodged in the Morris County Jail in lieu of $100,000.
