Man Stabbed Outside Speedwell Ave. Bar, Cops Say

Alleged victim says Danny's Pub patron attacked him and ran off, according to police.

A man standing outside Danny's Pub early Sunday morning told police a bar regular pulled out a knife, stabbed him and ran off.

Speaking to Officer Eric Petr through a translator, the victim, who has not been identified by police, said he was outside the bar smoking a cigarette at about 2 a.m. A man walked out of the bar, pulled a knife and stabbed the man in the left forearm, according to police.

The man then ran away in the direction of South Street, according to the report.

The victim, however, could not provide a written statement to police due to his intoxicated state at the time, police said.

The victim told police he did not know the man's name but had seen him at the bar a number of times, according to the report. He was described as a short Hispanic male, wearing a white sleeveless shirt and black pants.

The victim had nothing stolen from him and could not provide an explanation why the other man stabbed him, according to police.

A search in the area for the man came up with negative results, police said.

The victim was transported to Morristown Medical Center for treatment.
