Blaze contained to basement but smoke damages upper levels, report says.

One Morristown resident was taken to the hospital after suffering burns from an apartment fire on DeKalb Place Wednesday afternoon.

According to nj.com, the tenant was found standing in the rear of his apartment when firefighters arrived, and had gotten out of the building on his own. Neighbors told fire officials it appeared the tenant had burns to his face, the report said.

The fire was contained in the apartment’s basement, the report said, but the first and second floors of the building sustained smoke damage. No other injuries were reported.
