Morristown Arrest Leads to Drug Investigation

Police responded to a noise complaint, but found items suggesting drug activity and manufacturing

While Morristown Police and JCP&L were busy on Morris Street due to smoke coming out of a manhole cover, over on Washington Street on Wednesday, July 31, police were investigating that area for a possible drug incident.

At 1:45 p.m., police sent out an alert saying that Washington Street between Atno Avenue and Mills Street will be closed from 1:30 - 3 p.m. Wednesday.

"The officer responded to the noise complaint," said Police Capt. Steve Sarinelli, adding that an arrest was made. "Upon arrival, there were signs indicative of drug activity, including the manufacturing of drugs."

When asked for the name of the arrested person and charges, police did not give that information saying that it "is open and under investigation at this time."

He added that hazmat were brought in for safety reasons because the chemicals found may have been volatile. County investigators took over from there
