Morristown Man Critical, One Motorist Dead After Four-Vehicle Collision

New Providence driver hit a vehicle head-on, state police say.

A Morristown man is in critical condition after a multi-vehicle accident Saturday on the Garden State Parkway that killed another motorist.

Michael Aberback, 37, of Morristown is at Jersey Shore Medical Center, and Leonard Danduone, 80, of New Providence was killed after a four-vehicle collision near exit 114 of the Parkway, State Police Sgt. Brian Polite said.

Danduone was driving northbound in the southbound express lane in Middletown when he hit a car head-on, Polite said. Danduone, who was driving a white sedan, was pronounced dead at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, Polite said.

Polite said other injuries were reported and treated at the scene.

The accident occurred at 1:54 p.m. at mile marker 113, and caused the closure of all three southbound express lanes.

Polite said all three lanes were open as of 5:10 p.m.

Middletown EMS Assitant Public Information Officer Beth Edwards said the Leonardo, Fairview, Port Monmouth and Lincroft First Aid Squads assisted on the scene. Middletown Fire Company Section 10 and multiple chiefs also responded.

Polite said the accident is still under investigation.
