Cops: Morristown Man Tried Hitting Domino's Employee; Yelled Homophobic Slurs

A Morristown man was arrested after spending the night of July 1 yelling obscenities and homophobic slurs at employees of Domino’s Pizza, then refusing to follow law enforcement commands, Morristown Police said.

Officers responded to the restaurant at 8:23 p.m. for the second report of a man being disorderly inside the business, police said. Patrol units found Bruce Harris, 29, outside and “extremely upset” while yelling loudly at employees inside Domino’s, police said.

When Harris attempted to re-enter the business, officers stepped in front of the man and employee Syed Zaidi came to the door, police said. Zaidi told police he called to report Harris earlier in the day, and that the Morristown man returned to the store and tried to hit him, police said. When Zaidi called police again, the employee told police Harris smacked the phone out of his hand.

Harris, still yelling outside the establishment, was instructed to leave the area because Domino’s did not want to serve him anymore. At that point Harris grew angrier, police said, and was told he would be arrested if he did not calm down and leave the area.

Harris told police he wouldn’t leave, and was subsequently placed under arrest, police said.

Due to Harris’s uncooperative behavior at Morristown Police Headquarters, police were unable to process him and needed to lodge him directly into a holding cell. Harris then began punching the cell door, police said, and was then cuffed to a bench and restrained.

Harris was charged with defiant trespassing and disorderly conduct. He was given a court date and released on his own recognizance.
