Armed Robbery at Morristown Medical Center Garage Under Investigation

Hospital says additional measures being taken to ensure safety of employees.

An armed robbery was reported Sunday morning at Morristown Medical Center's parking garage, according to Atlantic Health System.

The incident took place at 10:45 a.m. inside an office within one of the hospital’s visitor garages, spokeswoman Maggie Goldberg said. The alleged perpetrator took off on foot on Madison Avenue.

"The safety of our employees, patients and visitors is our top priority on every Atlantic Health System campus. At this time, there has been no impact to hospital operations and no restriction to access the hospital. We have taken additional measures to continue to provide for the safety and continued care of our patients and the well-being of our visitors and staff as we work closely with authorities in this ongoing investigation,” Goldberg said in a statement.

The type of weapon used was not disclosed. Goldberg said the full amount of money taken is still under investigation. 

The incident is under investigation by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
