Tornado Warning Lifted; Severe Thunderstorm, Flood Watch Remain

National Weather Service issued tornado, flood, severe thunderstorm warnings today.

The National Weather Service first issued a tornado warning for the area until 11:45 a.m., along with a flood advisory and severe thunderstorm warning. Another tornado was issued until 12:15 p.m.

The tornado warning has been lifted but a severe thunderstorm watch and flood watch remain in effect for most of the afternoon.

The severe weather alert for the Morris County area is effective immediately. A weather warning indicates a confirmed, current and present danger to this area, according to the alert.

The alert advises people that the safest place to be in a storm such as this is the basement. "Get under a workbench or other piece of sturdy furniture. If no basement is available ... seek shelter on the lowest floor of the building in an interior hallway or room such as a closet."
