Move Car Off Street for Snow Removal or Get Towed, Cops Say

Eight streets to have snow removed Sunday night, Monday morning by Morristown Department of Public Works.

Thanks to what felt like an avalanche of snow piling on the region in recent weeks, the streets of Morristown have become nearly impassable because of the piles of snow and ice.

With that the town department of public works is working alongside the police department to clear the roads Sunday night and Monday morning, and are requesting residents to move their vehicles from the roads during certain times.

Starting at 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, vehicles need to be removed from:
  • Pine Street (between South Street to King Place on both sides of the road)
  • Speedwell Avenue (from The Green to Clinton Place)
Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, vehicles need to be removed from:
  • Abbett Avenue (from Ridgedale Avenue to Jardine Road on both sides of the roadway)
  • Lincoln Street (on the side of the road with posted signs)
  • Phoenix Avenue (on the side of the road with posted signs)
  • Cobb Place (on the side of the road with posted signs)
  • Lyons Place (on the side of the road with posted signs)
  • Cutler Street (on the side of the road with posted signs)

Signs have been posted with No Parking signs indicating the date and time of snow removal, according to Morristown Police Lt. Stuart Greer. Vehicles that are not removed in areas that have been posted will be towed to facilitate the removal of snow, Greer said.

The Dept of Public Works needs to hit Hill Street. The road is impassable for two vehicles, and the curves and hills make it difficult to see oncoming cars and pedestrians getting in and out of vehicles. I hope the town does something soon about these dangerous conditions.

Western is a one way street. People stayed off of it in the garage. They didn't clear it wide enough to park now without getting hit. Continue to let the residents park in the garage for free

Morristown Resident - wholeheartedly agree on Hill St. I lived on Hill St. for 20 years and it was always a nightmare after significant snow fall. I'm sure they will get around to clearing it out soon. I live of off Franklin St. now, and it's really bad there as well. The snow is piled so high, it's nearly impossible to see at the corners when attempting pull off of a side street onto Franklin. Someone will get t-boned eventually.
