Name of Adult Accused of Rape Released

Tyrec Phillips, 19, is accused—along with two juveniles—of sexually assaulting a girl in September 2011.

The name of the third Morristown man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in September 2011 has finally been released.

Tyrec Phillips, 19, is among police say raped a 17-year-old girl last year after giving her a drink that caused her to fall in and out of consciousness. Unlike the other two accused, who were 17 when the alleged incident occurred and are presently being seen by Morris County Superior Court Family Division Judge Michael Paul Wright, Phillips was 18 years old at the time of the alleged incident and is expected to have a bail hearing in regular court sometime this week.

The criminal complaint against Phillips, signed by Morristown police on Aug. 16, was released Monday by a superior court judge after being temporarily sealed for almost two weeks. He has been charged with aggravated sexual assault.
