No Injuries in Monday Auto Accident

A box truck allegedly hit car as it was turning onto Early Street.

A Morristown woman was not injured when she said a box truck turned into the front of her car on Speedwell Avenue Monday.

Linda Lopez, of Morristown, was in the right lane at the corner of Speedwell and Early Street at about 2 p.m. when a Budget Rent-a-Car box truck allegedly turned right from the left lane, striking the front of her Toyota Corolla.

Traffic was briefly delayed while police investigated the scene and a tow truck came to haul away Lopez's vehicle. The box truck appeared undamaged.

"It sounded like the whole thing was ripping apart, which obviously it was," said Lopez, pointing to the plastic front of her car, nearly removed from the vehicle in the accident. The man setting up the tow finished the job, pulling it off in one quick motion as Lopez grimmaced.

Lopez said it was a good thing she did not seem to be injured, as she said she has had back problems in the past. "Thank God I wasn't hurt," she said.

She also said it was a good thing she only lived a few blocks away from the accident. "I guess I can just walk home," Lopez said.
