Man Killed Crossing Morristown Street

Police seeking witnesses to crash that claimed life of Hamburg man near Morristown Medical Center.

A 33-year-old Hamburg man was struck by a driver and killed on Madison Avenue in Morristown Thursday night.

John Pirres was crossing the street near 65 Madison Avenue around 7:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 2011 black Dodge Durango, according to a release sent by Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp's office.

Pirres was transported to Morristown Medical Center and died there shortly after.

Officers were able to identify the driver at the scene, but Knapp's office asked for help from the public in providing information about the crash. No charges have been filed.
