Police Report Burglary on Hamilton Road

Resident may have prevented anything being stolen by coming home, according to the report.

Morristown Police say a Hamilton Road house may have been broken into on Sept. 6, but may have been stopped because the resident came home.

On Tuesday, officers responded to the residence on report of a burglary. When they arrived, the resident explained that she left her house at 6:55 p.m. and returned home at 9:45 p.m., to find that someone forced opened the rear door to the residence, according to the report.

The front door, which she told police was locked before she left the house, was unlocked when she returned, according to the report. She told police, however, that nothing was found missing in the house, leading her to believe that she have interupted the burglary, causing the suspect to escape through the front door as she approached the rear of the house, according to the report.

Officers checked the area and conducted a canvass of the neighborhood, with no results. The investigation is ongoing.
