Police Looking for Washington St. Carjacker

Police are still searching for the man who allegedly carjacked a vehicle on Washington Street Friday night.

At about 9:20 p.m. on June 10, according to a press release prepared by Morristown Police Detective Lt. Steve Sarinelli, police responded to a carjacking reported on Washington Street near Phoenix Avenue. Two men there reported being approached by a man carrying a handgun who took their vehicle, a silver 2009 Jaguar.

The victims told police that a male wearing a ski mask had approached them as they were entering the vehicle, which was parked on the street, police said. A vehicle description and details of the incident were then broadcast to all law enforcement agencies in the area, according to police.

The Jaguar was spotted travelling eastbound on Route 78 by the Union Police Department, Sarinelli said in the release. The Union police pursued the vehicle into Newark, but were unable to catch the alleged carjacker and the investigation continues, according to the release.

"We are grateful that no one was injured during this incident," Sarinelli said in the release. "All available resources will be used to identify and hold those involved responsible."
