Police: Shots Fired on Mills Street

Residents say someone in a speeding sedan may have fired a weapon at around 1 a.m. on March 21.

Morristown Police are reporting possible gunshots fired on Mills Street early Wednesday morning.

According to Capt. Steven Sarinelli, who issued a press release Tuesday afternoon, the Morristown Police Department received calls from residents on Mills Street at around 1 a.m. on March 21 saying possible gunshots had been heard in the area.

Officers arrived in the area and spoke with residents, who reported seeing "a light colored sedan traveling south on Mills Street at a high rate of speed," according to the release. The residents told police, according to the release, it appeared that one of the occupants of the vehicle was "possibly firing a weapon as the vehicle continued south."

Police searched the area but the vehicle was not found, according to the release. Evidence was found at the scene, however, confirming that a weapon had been fired, according to the release.

"Based upon the initial investigation, this appears to be an isolated incident and no information has been uncovered which would reveal that any particular place, person or thing was targeted," Sarinelli said in the release.
