No One Found in Spring Street Building After Roof Collapse

Search for occupants conducted after footprints in snow found near building.

The roof of a vacant building at 115 Spring Street collapsed Thursday, according to Morristown Police Lt. Stuart Greer.

Police responded to the scene around 11:30 a.m. to a report of a roof collapse for the second time Thursday. While the building was vacant, Greer said, authorities needed to investigate inside the building after footprints in the snow were found in the vicinity of the building.

At the conclusion of the search, it was revealed no one was inside or near the building at the time of the collapse, Greer said.

The first roof collapse occurred at 35 Market Street earlier in the day from a combined result of piled snow and age of the building.

No cause was yet determined for the Spring Street roof collapse. The building was formerly home to a car dealership, Greer said. Building and construction officials will continue to investigate the cause and if the structure is sound.
