Shots Fired on Abbett Ave., Report Says

Bullet shell casings found near New Street.

Morristown police officers responded to Abbett Avenue late Monday night to find bullet shell casings on the ground near New Street, nj.com reported.

A caller told police they heard gun shots and a speeding vehicle, according to nj.com, but no vehicle was found. Morristown Patch readers also said the road was blocked off by police on both ends around 10 p.m.

Police were not immediately available for comment.

Gun shots have been reported on Abbett Avenue a couple of times in the past few years, including in June 2012 when a former Paterson police officer was accused of firing a gun into the air on the street and then pointing the weapon at a person and an October 2011 incident in which two Morristown men were shot on Abbett Avenue.
