Woman Punched in Face in Front of Cop, Police Say

Randolph 21-year-old accused of simple assault.

Despite officers being in plain view, police say a bar patron punched another in the face over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Jennifer Coreas, 21, of Randolph, was arrested and charged with simple assault just after 1 a.m. Nov. 22. According to a police report filed by Officer Brendan Briscoe, police were patrolling the area near DeHart and South streets when a woman approached him and said an unknown female had assaulted her inside The Dark Horse Lounge.

As Briscoe continued to take the woman's information, she pointed to another female—later identified as Coreas—and said, "that is her," referring to the person she said had assaulted her in the bar, the report said.

The officer returned to speak with the other woman when Coreas, who had followed him, punched the woman in the face, according to the report. Coreas was then placed under arrest.

Coreas was transported to Morristown Police headquarters where she was processed and later released on her recognizance.
