Morristown Police responded to a Washington Street residence on Wednesday for an alleged simple assault, Lt. Stuart Greer said.

The victim told police that while standing outside the bar at the restaurant, she was approached by Thurman, Greer said. During a conversation, the victim was allegedly slapped by Thurman, who then left the area, Greer said.

The woman said she was not injured and left the bar with her friend, subsequently contacting police.

Because of the nature of the report, however, the victim was referred to the violations bureau of Morristown Municipal Court to possibly pursue a disorderly persons complaint. No further investigation by the Morristown Police Department will be taken.
