Whether it's the crowds of people on the Green, taking in lunch al fresco on a sunny, catching a show at The Community Theatre or just window shopping, one thing is clear:
Morristown is getting busier.
With that in mind, and with Memorial Day Weekend looming, Mayor Tim Dougherty emphasized during Tuesday's council meeting the importance of Morristown's business community to do their part.
"They have a responsibility to keep their businesses clean," he said, noting specifically their sidewalks. "It's going to be something this administration will be focusing on this year."
Dougherty said letters have been sent to every business in town advising them to keep their sidewalks free of debris. He noted businesses leasing their properties, as opposed to owning them, were not exempt.
He cited as a good example the new frozen yogurt business, which emptied the streetside garbage can when it was full.
But, he said, businesses have to remain vigilant. "That garbage can was filled with wood today," Dougherty said.
