Knapp OK'd as Morris Prosecutor by Senate Judiciary Committee

Full Senate to vote on Fredric Knapp's contract this week after serving 18 months in 'acting' role.

More than 18 months after he first took over the county’s top law enforcement position in an acting role, Fredric Knapp has been approved by members of the state legislature to become the official Morris County Prosecutor.

According to dailyrecord.com, Knapp’s position was approved by the state Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously last week. His contract is for five years with a salary of $165,000 annually, the report said.

A vote by the entire Senate on Knapp's installment is scheduled for this week, the report said.

Knapp came as a nominee of Governor Chris Christie in December 2012, but was not approved when Senate Democrats were feuding with the governor.

Knapp’s last 18 months of service are not part of his five-year contract, the report said.
