Letter: Congrats to Morristown Election Winners

This letter to the editor is from Michael Pooler, who ran for Town Council, but did not win

As you may have heard, the POOLER for Town Council campaign came up short last night.

I would like to thank all my campaign’s volunteers, supporters, endorsers, donors and especially those who prayed for a better outcome in this 2013 Democratic Primary Election.

I offer my heartfelt congratulations to Mayor Tim Dougherty and his slate of council candidates that did win: Michelle Dupree Harris, Michael Elms and Toshiba Foster. I also fully intend to continue as an active member of the Morristown Planning Board and to seek cooperative ways to improve our town.

I would also like to recognize Jessica Williamson and Tom Alexander, the two other Primary Election contenders that did not win. Working together with them and their campaigns, helped us be successful in organizing, planning and rallying the “independent voice” and offering Morristown voters a choice.

As you might imagine, I am experiencing a whirlwind of emotion and will be taking a little bit of time to reflect on this campaign and learn from the experience.

I intend to formulate a new plan – after consulting with our campaign’s friends and supporters – and begin mapping out what’s next in my public service future. I hope to remain an influential voice in Morristown politics and will continue to promote and act upon my campaign theme: “meaningful dialogue leads to cooperative solutions.”

So we’re dusting ourselves off a bit today, and getting ready to keep this movement going tomorrow and the next day and the one after that!

Thank you again. Regards, Michael J Pooler
