Longtime County Democratic Committee Member Seeks Chairman Position

Charles 'Chip' Robinson has announced his candidacy to replace the retiring Lew Candura.

Charles “Chip” Robinson has announced his candidacy to be the next chairman of the Morris County Democratic Committee, replacing retiring chairman Lew Candura.

Robinson has served as the party's executive director and Sargent of Arms for 12 of the past 14 years.

“I have worked for the Morris County Democratic Party since I was 15 years old, working at every level and task of organizing and campaigning," Robinson said. "As Morris Democratic chair, I commit myself to supporting our candidates at every level.”

Robinson, who grew up in Morris Township and now lives in Lincoln Park, graduated Rutgers and received his law degree from Seton Hall University.

Robinson has campaigned the past three months, meeting with nearly all municipal chairmen and their county committee members, according to a statement announcing his candidacy.

"I am pleased and humbled thus far to have received endorsements from 21 municipal chairs," Robinson said. "All of our municipal chairs are friends of mine and I look forward to supporting all of them and their candidates in the coming years."
