Morristown Councilman Dies

Lifelong resident Anthony Cattano had been battling cancer.

Longtime Morristown Democrat councilman Anthony Cattano has died.

Mayor Tim Dougherty confirmed Cattano's passing Tuesday night, after a long battle with cancer. He said Cattano's son, John, would likely announce service arrangements later this week.

Cattano, who would have been up for re-election to Town Council next year, had not appeared in a council meeting all year as he fought his illness. Occasionally, the son of former mayor Anthony Cattano Sr.—whom Cattano Avenue was named after in the early 1990s—participated in meetings by phone.
