Morristown Grad Attains Eagle Scout Status

Ben Cutler honored at Tuesday's council meeting.

It wasn't a given that Ben Cutler would follow in the footsteps of his brothers Peter and Silas and become an Eagle Scout, but the 2013 Morristown graduate did in fact achieve the highest honor in scouting and before the official elevation takes place in May, stopped by Tuesday's meeting of the Morristown mayor and council to to be commended for his work.

The list of Cutler's achievements ran nearly four minutes long (two of those minutes are in a video attached to this post) but the highlights included:

  • An Eagle project coordinating 100 hours of volunteer work at St. Peter's Church repainting, refurbishing and adding a door to make the space more useable and attractive.
  • A member of the boys choir at St. Peter's (although he would not sing when asked by Mayor Tim Dougherty).
  • A DJ at Morristown High School's Radio Station.
  • Out of state trips to renovate homes for the elderly.
Cutler just began the spring semester of his freshman year at Wheaton College in Massachusetts where he is studying physics and politics.

A combination that caused Dougherty to do a double take.
