Morristown Mayor Greets Governor from Colombia

The relationship between Morristown and Quindio, Colombia, goes back 30 years.

Mayors are often shaking hands with other elected officials from nearby municipalities. However, Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty got the opportunity to welcome a governor from Colombia on Monday.

Dougherty and the town of Morristown greeted Sandra Paola Hurdado Palacia, Governor of Quindio, Colombia, at 6 p.m. at the Mayor's office.

He presented a Certificate of acknowledgement and welcome.

"For over 30 years, many residents from Quindio have made Morristown their home and have contributed greatly to the Morristown community. It is an honor to host Governor Palacia's visit, which includes the celebration of Colombia's Independence Day on July 20, 2013," said the certificate.

"The relationship between Morristown and Quindio, Colombia is significant in that it encourages the residents of both our communities to explore and understand other cultures, and to promote our leaders to discuss practices and policies within our governments," said the certificate.
