Morristown to Discuss Vacant Council Seat this Week

The town will also go over United Service Workers Union Local 255 contract negotiations in executive session.

The Morristown Council will discuss several vacancies when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at town hall.

The governing body is expected to discuss the steps forward after the resignation of Councilman Kevin Gsell, who moved to Morris Township and resigned from the council last Monday. 

It also will discuss a vacancy on the Morristown Housing Authority committee, which Gsell previously held, and a vacancy on the Morristown Board of Adjustment due to Brian McShane’s resignation.

At the last Morristown town council meeting, the police contract was discussed. At the meeting this Tuesday, officials will go over United Service Workers Union Local 255 contract negotiations in executive session.

During the regular meeting, they will approve a request to host a Preparedness Fair on July 20 at Patriot’s Plaza from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The request comes from Mark McBride, Bishop of Morristown’s Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The council will also introduce an ordinance that would lease up to 140 parking spaces at 200 South St. on a month-to-month basis at a price of $80 per space per month.

The council will also look to pass a resolution to auction off abandoned bicycles at a public auction.

The Morristown Parking Authority will meet this week at 6 p.m. on Tuesday to discuss an update to the MPA Off-Street Handicap Space Improvement Program. They will also memorialize the MPA Board of Commissioners 1–Time Bonuses for Administrative Office Support Staff and General Maintenance Person

Morris School District will meet on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Lafayette Learning CenterMorristown & Morris Township Public Library will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the library.

On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., the Board of Adjustment will meet at town hall and the Town Council Redevelopment meeting scheduled for Thursday is cancelled

On Thursday, the Morris County Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. on the fourth floor of 30 Schuyler Pl. Here's a look at some of the agenda items:
