Army weapon manufacturer issues noise alert for Howitzer shots on Friday and Saturday.

No, it doesn’t mean war has come to Morris County.

But it surely will be loud.

Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway Township has issued a noise warning, according to nj.com, for its scheduled use of an M119 Howitzer on both Friday and Saturday.

A test shot will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday and then again at 8 a.m. Saturday to kick off the Armed Forces 5K run/walk to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 239th birthday celebration, the report said.

The 5K is open to the public, according to Picatinny Arsenal’s website, and is measured and certified by USA Track and Field. Find out more about the race and how to register here.
