Poll: Should Town, Township Consolidate?

Morristown councilwoman recently attended statewide consolidation conference.

Do Morristown and Morris Township have the courage to connect? 

It was an issue brought up at the April 10 Morristown council meeting by Council Vice President Rebecca Feldman, who recently attended a training seminar for those wanting to look further into the increasingly-common topic of municipal consolidation in New Jersey. The seminar was sponsored by the non-profit Courage to Connect NJ organization. 

Much of the talk on municipal consolidation gained significant traction last year when the Princetons–Princeton Township and Princeton Borough–.

Feldman said that was only the beginning. She noted specifically current early discussions regarding , in Union County. "I think it will become more and more of an issue around the state," she said. 

Here in our area of New Jersey, Morristown and Morris Township have different police forces, different fire departments, different governments. But, we share a school district and–to the confusion of many–a mailing address.
