Prepared for Hurricane Season? Learn Tips at Morristown Fair

Morristown Office of Emergency Management and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints sponsoring session on July 20.

After Sandy’s devastation and the beginning of the 2013 hurricane season, local groups are looking to better prepare residents.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Morristown Office of Emergency Management are sponsoring a Preparedness Fair on July 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot behind Headquarters Plaza (Spring St. to Bishop Nazery Way)

There will be representatives from local government agencies, vendors and organizations to answer questions and give information on better preparing for emergencies.

Admission is free, but they’re accepting food donations for the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County and Saint Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center.

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches its members to be not only self-reliant, but also prepared for emergencies. Given the violent storms of the last two years, we feel very strongly that an event focusing on disaster readiness would be a great community service project,” says Mark McBride, bishop of the Morristown congregation of the Church.
