Speedwell Redevelopment on Thursday Planning Board Agenda

Planning Board meets at 7:30 p.m. March 22 at Town Hall.

While the plan for , now what actually will be constructed must go before the Planning Board for its thumbs up.

That begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at when, among other agenda items, there will be a request for a "major site plan, major subdivision and dimensional variances" for a 268-unit apartment building in the area of the redevelopment site that includes Prospect Street, Clinton Place and 16 Early St.

And, while the approval of the plan is only a few months old, plans for redevelopment in the Speedwell Avenue corridor have been a long time coming–about a decade.

"Obviously the board's excited to finally get it in front of them," said Mayor Tim Dougherty on Thursday. "The process continues to move forward. We're all excited to get the process going in the first phase of the Speedwell Redevelopment."
