Town Council: Studies, Gardens, Circuses–Oh, My!

A busy meeting is on tap for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall.

It may be a day for lovers, but it's also a day for a lovely Town Council meeting. Who needs flowers and chocolate when you have these five items on tonight's agenda? That includes a community garden's potential place of permanance in Morristown and, maybe, a circus (and, anything else you may want to know about on the agenda can be found on the PDF included with this post).

  1. You Need to Know About Community Development Block Grant Applications: A public hearing on this will be presented by , which has a location on Atno Avenue in Morristown.
  2. You Need to Know About ... a Circus in Morristown? If so, it would be in April and last for a week, as a request by Andrew Bartolotta of the Piccadilly Circus in Sarasota, FL notes. This item is under "Reports of the Mayor and Town Council."
  3. You Need to Know About Expansion: Have you ever picked up some adult beverages at Ram's Morristown Liquors on Martin Luther King Avenue? Well, it appears they'll be able to offer more of those kinds of drinks should the council approve a place-to-place transfer of its liquor license. The store is expanding from 91 MLK to 89-91 MLK.
  4. You Need to Know About Speedwell Redevelopment: With , the work needs to begin. One item the town needs to do is see what will need to be done to remediate the Department of Public Works/Morristown EMS site, off Early Street. A resolution authorizing an agreement with TERMS Environmental, a site remediation consulting firm, would start that process.
  5. You Need to Know About Early Street Community Garden: It has been around for a couple years. But, did you know the land it operates on is in a redevelopment area and could potentially become townhouses? That could change, however, if the town passes a resolution authorizing the filing of a grant application with the Department of Environmental Protection Green Acres Program, to obtain $525,000 to fund its acquisition. .
