Video: Freeholder Head Says Unions Helped Keep Budget Under Control

Most Morris County employees agreed to a wage freeze, she notes in county-produced video segment.

Morris County Freeholder Margaret Nordstrom says the decision by most county unions to accept a wage freeze helped keep the proposed 2011 county budget under control.

It "really allowed us to bring the budget in well under the cap and also to have a net tax levy reduction," she said in Morris Minutes, a county-produced video series.

Under the proposed 2011 budget, the gross county tax levy is down $1.8 million from 2010, inclusive of a half-cent reduction in the Open Space Tax, with a spending increase of 1.59 percent.
